Like to say hello to everyone. I am new here, been reading for a while. Home audio is one of my favorite obsessions, switched over from car audio.

Has any one experienced the athena audition series?

    How about klipsch synergy?

anyone one a fan of these?

Stereophile liked the Athena as-f2 quite a bit. I would try running a search over on their site.

    Good luck

I auditioned Athena floorstanding and bookshelf speakers in a direct comparison with Klipsch Synergy and JBL Northridge.

IMO, the lower budget Athenas are easily comparable to JBL Northridge speakers and they do not get as harsh sounding at higher volumes. They did sound a bit more laid back, but again, not as shouty.

I prefer the JBL Studio series over the Athenas because the just sounded clear with a more accurate presentation.

The Athenas come very close to competing with JBLs, but given the money, I'd probably buy the JBL equivalent.

Klipsch Synergy sounds very forward and bright compared to the above speakers and I'd consider it hard to find similarities. The highs are more ear peircing and this can add a sizzle or spark to vocals and instruments. I think the Klipsch Synergies are for people who think the JBLs and Athenas sound dead and lack any highs. They are also for people that like to listen to music at loud volumes and are able to tolerate fatiguing sound.

I suggest comparing JBL Studios with the Athenas.

Thanks for the great responses guys!

Looking for some entry level products until I can build my own.

I actually work at best buy. [IMG]

That is why I specifically asked about the speakers I mentioned.

    Thanks guys.

Yeah, You can listen to all 3 at best buy.

The JBL studios, and Northridge do sound better at home environments than at Best buy. I also have to admit the Klipsch Synergy also sounded better with a nicer receiver in a home environment. (Though they still were a bit fatiguing)

I have not had a change to listen to Athenas at home so could only compare them at Best Buy's setup.

I have the Athena ASB-2s and the ASC-1 connected to a JVC 6020. I really like them, sounds pretty clear with good bass for a bookshelf speaker. I am using the Energy E:xl-s8 sub also. I plan on putting the ASB-2s in the back to replace old Audio Techs and getting either the Athena ASF-2s or -1s, whatever the budget allows...[IMG]

synergy line isn't all that great. Reference line is more appealing.
