Thinking of adding this dac to a cambridge 500se used as a transport into a bottlehead foreplay tube preamp into the bypass of the sony ta-p900es for two channel listening, any thougts ?...I have lex dc-2 into the other 5.1 inputs of the sony ta-p9000es for HT purposes.

I had it briefly a few months ago, but it didn't work out for me. It's output was too hot for my preamp. I tried 12 db attenutor pads which did lower the output, but also added a haze to the sound.

OTOH, I've heard of quite a few happy users.

When I asked ThomasW and Jon about it they told me from listening trials they've done I should say clear of it.

I would highly recommend the mod version (Bolder or any other) if you want an upgrade from the 500SE. If you're thinking stock I think the upgrade is going to be minimal.
