Tonight FOX will finally air the real Arrested Development season finale. I never saw any episodes in their original run but I recently caught 14-21 and I have to say, this is not only the best new show of the season but it's one of the funniest comedies I've ever seen. Everything about it is amazing. The direction is perfect, the writing and editing is hilarious, and the ensemble cast is probably the best ever assembled since The West Wing. Right now AD is FOX's silver bullet and I'm so happy that they've renewed it for a 2nd Season.

Good finish; I too didn't catch it initially, have been following up as best I could.. this show has that kind of off-the-wall sensibility that has long been missing from TV. It's original, inventive commentary that really sustains itself. Good stuff [IMG]

Oh man, the zingers just fly out of the oblivious Bluthers and that's what makes the show so much fun.

    Gob: I'm the Matriarch!

Glad this show was picked up for next season.

Please, someone, explain the two cuts to a rest area? I'm oblivious.

Exactly. "The Man Inside Me" - need I say more?? [IMG]

    Another great moment:

    "He's got bees!!"

    Great setup for that joke.

Here's hoping for a 1st season DVD release to promote the next season a la "24". This show should have great rewatchability.

I believe it's because road stop restrooms have a certain reputation for being a place to solicit ... ehem... sexual favors of an illegal nature.

They're alluding to Tobias's delusional sexual orientation problems (which spawned "The Man In Me" to great comic effect).

The Atkin's diet jokes were all funny too.

    And the two cuts followed immediately;
    1) Fonzie stating he had "no idea where [he] could have gotten" his poison ivy.
    and
    2) Fonzie stating he couldn't be somewhere later because he "had an important meeting."

LOL, another great episode... I still have one complaint about AD, it should be an hour long!

I forgot how funny the pilot was, and it was actually the first episode I've seen twice... best joke that I missed the first time around was the tv reporter talking about GOB's magic trick to hide his father, she pronounced his name GOB instead of 'Jobe', GOB's reaction was hilarious.

The 'on the next ep' was great too.

    The whole family carb loading

Anyong pulling George Michael's "Well maybe we should kiss again. That'll show them." line with Maebe.

I had forgotten that it was going to be shown Sunday so I got an unexpected gift from my tivo when I got home and it recorded the pilot too.
Loved the dip a pet bit, the model homes in Iraq and The Man inside me.

    Great stufff.

TV guide has a short article in this weeks TV guide called, If we picked the Emmy Nominations and Arrested Development is part of The Best Comedy catagory. Lets hope the actual academy is as smart and doesnt nominate Friends and Frasier yet again. Time for some new shows to get their due.

Great episode to end a fantastic season! Man, the jokes come so dang fast and furious that they actually "hit" me a beat afterward and I start laughing just as another comes along! Simply the Best!

If this show doesn't win Best Comedy this year, it will next time.

I can't wait for the DVD set (am I correct in assuming one is coming?)

    Gob:
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line.
    I'm the first born.
I'm sick of playing second fiddle.
Always third in line for everything.
    I'm tired of finishing fourth,
    Being the fifth wheel.
There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

I loved that they brought back the seemingly throw-away line from the Heather Graham episode about Saddam's palace looking just like their house.

On July 22, Bravo's Celebrity Poker (season 3) will feature an almost all-Arrest Development table:

Will Arnett (Gob), Jason Bateman (Michael), David Cross (Tobias), Peter Facinelli (of Fastlane fame), and Judy Greer.

Peter is the only oddball of the group.

GOB: Oh, that is just great. Now I’m expected to climb back on top of Kitty and do my thing again. I mean, this family runs into problems and it’s "Oh, let’s have G.O.B. (bleep) our way out of it."
