I got the Yamaha NS-FP9500 free from Bestbuy with a tv I bought. Are they any good? I am currently using the Onkyo SKS-HT510 and while the sub is decent I don't really care for the speakers all that much. Would the Yamahas be much of an upgrade? They are more expensive but that doesn't always mean much. I am just trying to decide whether to keep them or sell them on eBay.

The best way to tell is for you to hook them up and give them a listen. It would be best to turn off the sub, if possible, so you can focus on the speakers. If you think they sound better than the speakers that came with the Onkyo, then you might consider picking up a few more for a compete set.

Ebay.....

My brother Ange Hamm has a set of Yamaha speakers...... They are -ahem- not very good sounding. Maybe he can give some more details... Good surrounds.

Yeah, but mine were $99 Yamaha cheapies. They shouldn't be considered representative of all Yamaha speakers. They are VERY nice full-range surrounds, though!

I have the Yamaha NS-8390 3-Way Floor Speakers and really like them. I too am curious about other's opinions on Yamaha's speakers. Anyone?
