Without haggling, I was quoted the following:

What prices have you seen out there?

They look good to me! I paid $900 (US) for the 40s and $500 (US) for the Studio CC. Bless their hearts, they did eat the tax, but that's about it.

Ed, what kind of finish is on the speaker? Laminate or wood vaneer? The CC is more than MSRP (unless prices went upsince Jan/Feb this year), the 40s if laminate ... near MSPR, vaneer your getting a fair price. I personally prefer the vaneer. I have the rosewood vaneer on my 40s.
Don't forget stands for the 20 or 40s. The Premier "J" series goes with the studio line. Expect around $200/pr.

If these are for the laminate versions only, then I think you can do better, especially if this is quoted without any haggling.

The prices are indeed for the laminate. I hadn't factored in the cost of the stands yet. At $200/pair, I see very little reason to go with the Studio 40's - may as well apply the money to buy the 60's.
And yes, a 15% GST/PST DOES SUCK!

The following are the Canadian MSRP's for the Studio series (they maybe a bit dated):
Studio/20 CDN$800/pair laminate CDN$1050/pair veneer
Studio/40 CDN$1100/pair laminate CDN$1350/pair veneer
Studio/60 CDN$1400/pair laminate CDN$1750/pair veneer
Studio/80 CDN$1800/pair laminate CDN$2200/pair veneer
Studio/100 CDN$2250/pair laminate CDN$2700/pair veneer
Studio/CC CDN$550 each
Studio/ADP CDN$1050/pair
Depending on the dealer, you should be able to get at least 15% off these prices, especially if you buy a full speaker system. Maybe as much as 20% or 25% off MSRP. Personally, I have received 20-25% off MSRP at two different Paradigm dealers.
1 option to consider is to buy the Studio/20 and the Studio/CC for your mains and centre, respectively. Once budget allows, then move the 20's to the rear and get Studio/40 or Studio/60 as your new mains (this is what I did with my system). As for speaker stands, you could always build your own or go with something inexpensive like short wooden stools. Currently, I use 24 inch high wooden stools for my Studio/20 rears. Not ideal, but work pretty good for those on a budget.
