Hey Y'all. Saw a review of "Dead of Winter" and since they are both being released on the same day by MGM and since "Dead..." got a bad review, (Non-anamorphic!!!!) [IMG] I've been worried about "State..." 1 of my favorites that I have been waiting YEARS for!
From all accounts, "State" IS Annie and 5.1, so I'm hoping it's done well!!
    Ron? Didja get a copy???
Peace and a happy and SAFE Thanksgiving to all from Anakin, er... Dave from Target # 1, NYC!!!

It is pretty much what I expected. Based on their output of the last year or so, I expect MGM did a more than adequate job on the DVD. 5.1 is a nice surprise, since I expected 2 channel. I doubt it will really make much difference, other than possibly the final scene which has some interesting sound effects.

This is probably in the Top 5 of my most anticipated DVDs. I can't wait!

Hey, I got it today. Looks pretty good. Darker, (oddly) and less "blue" than the VHS. Sound quality is good but believe it or not, my old VHS has a greater dynamic range between the soft and the loud tones... when Oldman shoots the bottles on the roof, the vhs gets MUCH louder. I compared. Still pretty decent though. The print is in GREAT shape. Very smooth transfer.
Nice to FINALLY get it. No HUGE revelations un the framing, seems like the VHS had an open-matte transfer. Trailer with U2 is pretty cool. Notice the 1 shot in the trailer of Sean and Gary near the end that wasn't in the flick? cool....
Anyways, I am pretty stoked. 1 of my favorites on DVD at last!
    Peace!!!!

I might be biased but it's worth a blind purchase IMHO. You should be able to snag it on sale for $9.99.
