I realize this is a long list but if anyone knows of even one title listed here that has a DVD with anamorphic widescreen, it would be most appreciated. I'd love to upgrade as many of these region one non-anamorphic titles as possible.
Many thanks in advance! :)

From you list I only know of 'Private Parts' being available in anamorphic widescreen on R2 PAL.
I don't think that 'The Abyss' will ever be available in any region sporting an anamorphic transfer.
I think that both the 'Lion King 2'and 'Little Mermaid 2' are both presented in 4:3 and so arnt available in widescreen.
As for 'Ninja Scroll' (I take it your talking about the Jap anime) I thought it was already presented in a anamorphic transfer on the R1 DVD.
I will see if I can find out any info on the other titles you have listed.

In R1 The Lion King 2 and The Little Mermaid 2 are widescreen but not enhanced. Thus I hoped there might be a better version out there. :)

Not only is the R3 of Eyes Wide Shut uncut, but so is the R4 version. Sadly it appears Kubrick refused widescreen anywhere.

From Dusk Til Dawn, many of the European ones are anamorphic. I've got the German 2 disc set, which although I've had a while haven't got round to watching yet, but it is 16x9.

Pathe's UK PAL R2 DVD of James and the Giant
Peach is 1.85:1 anamorphic, with trailer, music
video and production featurette.
By the way, be careful when buying R2 DVDs.
Just because a title is anamorphic in one
European country, it does not necessarily follow
that it will be anamorphic in the other countries.

Chris:
Thanks for the word of caution about their being different R2 versions in different countries. I've noticed a lot of this already. It looks like I may have to keep my James And The Giant Peach R1 since it has DTS.

Chad:
I don't know about R2 outside the UK, but here I've only found 2 discs that have DTS (Chicken Run and The Eagles HFO) Are we hard done by or what! I think I may just have to start a thread in the studio feedback section...
Chris:
You wouldn't happen to frequent 3dfiles.com would you? If not, that's TWO ppl from Colchester I've found recently!

No, that's not me on 3dfiles.com.
I agree we are poorly served on DTS though. Another example is that the UK R2 Gladiator DVD had DTS, but the R1 DVD had DTS-ES. I also heard that the Dolby Digital track was mastered at a lower rate on the R2 DVD.

I think I must be one of the few ppl round here who HASN'T sen Gladiator! Didn't really appeal to me I guess. I might borrow it sometime to see if I like it however. Lower bitrate huh? Figures, I guess. back to imports then.
