I am searching for a pair of speakers for my deck. They will only be outside when I am listening to them for fear of theft.

Since I will be storing them inside, and I will only use them outside when it is nice enough to be on the deck or doing yardwork, do I need to get a pair of outdoor speakers of will a pair of bookshelf speakers be fine?

Any speakers will be fine. Outdoor speakers are usually designed to be water-resistant. If you won't be leaving them outside, I would go with some nice bookshelves.

Well, I think it would be convenient to have outdoor speakers. Suppose you're having a barbecue and it suddenly starts raining. There's a mad scramble to move the food, etc., inside. The speakers would be low priority. Why have them ruined while you're saving the hamburger buns and potato salad?
