I was curious if the onkyo tx-ds595 will drive 4 ohm speakers, i.e., mains, center, surrounds??

Since my Kenwood gave up the ghost, I plan on purchasing one (onkyo) to use until I can decide which pre/pro to buy.

Thanks.

It has a switch on the back which must be set for 4 Ohm operation.

I read in a Widescreen Review issue that the Onkyo 989 had a hard time driving a pair of Avalons which were 4 ohms. They said at dynamic peaks it shut itself down.

Awesome Craig, I took a look at a photo of the back and there was the switch, can't believe I missed it before, thanks.

I forget his name, but someone who built some Adire Kit 281 (4ohm) is using a Onkyo 696 to drive them. He hasn't had any problems.

But my 575 doesn't have said switch. So I guess I'm gonna have to make sure I can afford a new amp before I go and build some.
