Are French R2 DVDs NTSC, PAL, or SECAM? (1 Viewer)

I thought they were PAL but I came across one site that mentions that France, Greece, and Russia have the SECAM format. I'm a bit confused now, are there any regionfree players that play the SECAM formatted titles? I don't recall seeing any.

...the French television system is indeed SECAM, and so are French pre-recorded VHS tapes ... however, French LaserDiscs and French DVDs are PAL (I have a few of the former and many of the latter in my movie collection)...

I have a PAL VCR and was thinking of purchasing tapes (VHS) from France. Are most PAL VCRs capable of playing SECAM tapes. My VCR does say PAL/SECAM.

Is GOD OF GAMBLERS on DVD in France? Christopher Gans released it on VHS in France on his label and the quality is astonishing, especially in comparison to any other version in any other country.
Of course, no English subtitles.

Interesting. I wish this would get a U.S. release. Since it is an English language film, the PAL speedup would bug the hell out of me.

If your VCR says PAL/SECAM, you're fine on that front.
But is your TV accepting SECAM? and even if it does, you have to make sure you watch your VCR through the Scart and not the RF (which probably won't recognise Secam, it doesn't even recognise Euro PAL if it's british).
