Several corrections regarding early Technicolor animation photography...

The earliest experiments and films such as Flowers and Trees were all photographed with standard newly minted three strip cameras. This continued into 1937, or approximately until Snow White, which was photographed Sequential Exposure (S/E).

The Disney studios were the consummate innovator in animation as well as animation combined with live action.

A bit more minutia:

The open and closing of books in Snow White, because they were dimensional, were photographed three strip.

S/E had been used experimentally as early as 1930 for the Walter Lantz cartoon in Universal's King of Jazz. This was in 2 color Technicolor.
