I loved the look and feel of the 5c. But again, the aesthetics are in the lower-end phones. I don’t get it. Make the most expensive, most capable phones look the most awesomest. Apple’s so good on look and feel, but they’re getting it so wrong on iPhones the past few years.
John Gruber and Jason Snell had this same discussion on the latest Talk Show. Apple wants their stuff to be fun then totally fails with color selection.

I'm a little miffed that a few days prior to preorder, Apple has not put the new series 7 watches in their online store to browse and mark as a favorite.

I am wondering if they are trying to make preordering more difficult due to supply constraints.

Hopefully, the watches will appear in the store prior to launch

I know they advertise the watch as water resistant but I find it amazing that an electronic watch can survive that much immersion in salt water.
I’ve been doing it all the time since the 3 was originally released — no problems ever, always very long swims, snorkeling and diving. The only caution I take is to wash it with fresh water at the end of the day if I have been in the sea. Both my 3 & 5 are stainless steel, as is my link bracelet, which I got with the original Apple Watch 0, have kept ever since, and intend to use it for my future 7. It seemed very expensive when I originally got it in 2015, but was a bargain in retrospect.

Dave: not totally sure how old my wife’s 3 is. As with most Apple devices I originally bought on its first day, but after I had handed it down, there was some sort of incident and a Genius Bar replacement. Most likely that was her original aluminum 3, and she gave the replacement to a friend and just uses my original stainless steel one — but, l can’t guarantee my memory isn’t faulty. But if it is my original it is 4 years old.

Word on the street is that Apple is not putting up configurations of the Series 7 for you to look at and mark as favorite prior to the product launch tomorrow morning.

It looks like the company is trying to make it more difficult to order the watch with the current supply restraint.

Unless there is some special reason, I buy iPhones and Apple Watches in person at the local Apple Store — we’ll see how the supply is — at any rate by the time we are back in NYC, they should be out in stores

Yeah, I got one, but what a mess!

The fact that we couldn't look at the watches and band configurations prior to launch made things very difficult.

I had to scramble because I immediately found the Graphite Stainless Steel watch I wanted but it no longer comes standard with a sport band. It comes with a solo band. So, I had to guess my wrist size because there was just no time to measure.

Added the watch to my cart with size 7 band for October 15th delivery. Bought it!

Then I find out my wrist is actually size 6. So, I am probably going to have to trade in the band after receiving it.

Also, ordered so fast I missed the Trade-In option. Found out later I could have gotten $20 more with Apple Trade-In than the 9to5 Trade-in I used. However, in the end, I am not going to fuss over $20.

I see complaints about the purchase process. Why play into Apple’s game? Why not wait?

Huh?

Play into Apple's game?

I just want a watch on release day. I don't consider it game playing.

I think this year was very unique in that Apple had limited supply. That's why they didn't let you choose the device in advance of launch. It would have made it more difficult for people to get their watch on release day.

Didn’t pre-order. But took a look briefly today. I like the Blue with Abyss Sportsband (non cellular). I hope to have a look in a store later this Fall and buy it.

Good thing I didn’t want to pre-order, as the Abyss sportsband isn’t available for order, even though it’s listed.

I share my impressions with others who feel that the Series 7 is not a major upgrade over the 6. I simply did it for trade-in value which means I essentially spent money to save money. That's never a good thing.

However, I did immediately notice that the watch face imagery is noticeably larger and I like that. I can't say, however, that the resting brightness is that much brighter -- especially when Apple was touting a 70% difference. Unless I missed a setting somewhere I don't find that extra brightness noticable.

Did want to point something out to my fellow HTF watch owners, though I think many of you probably already have this app...

BUDDYWATCH is an essential app for the watch. It has an incredible assortment of watch faces that you can download. The app is free. There is a VIP purchase available, but I am having a hard time finding information on what you get for it. All I can say is that I have downloaded some incredible watch faces with this app. Look for it in the App Store.

I was not prepared for how much I like using the Apple watch for driving instructions.

Voice off on the iPhone and tap-tap on the wrist is my normal approach lately.
I’m usually the passenger in the car and I use the iphone for navigating. I’m having trouble imagining the little bit of info on the watch being helpful. How do you guys make it work?
