Not to belabor the point, but here are 2 quotes about those settings and DV - I hope you can see why I am still confused as to the correct setting...

By the way, I tried to change my settings on my OLED65E6P from 4K Dolby Vision 24Hz to what I posted earlier this morning. I couldn't get it to accept 4K HDR 60Hz. I couldn't even find 4K HDR 24Hz nor 4K Dolby Vision 60Hz on the ATV4K unit. Yes, this stuff is confusing and darn right aggravating. I didn't mess with the cables, but it's the same Monoprice HDMI Premium cables I have on my OLED55C9P.

Just to be clear, we were talking about Netflix in that prior discussion and not Amazon Prime. This morning I couldn't find the setting for 4K HDR 24Hz on that ATV4K connected to my Yamaha 3060. The same with 4K Dolby Vision 60Hz. Also, since then that particular unit has become a Beta Tester. I don't know if that has anything to do with it or not. Anyhow, I've been up most of the night so I'm going back to bed right now and will try again later today.

So what we're looking at here is needing different settings for different services to get DV to work?

After doing a little more research, I found a video on Youtube that states Apple recommends the following settings::

    Format: 4K SDR
    HDMI Output: YCbCr
    Chroma: 4:4:4
Match Content: Match Dynamic Range "On"/Match Frame Rate "On"

After adjusting to those settings there is some good news and then there is some bad news. The good news I was able to stream Dolby Vision and HDR movies from iTunes and the Vudu app on iTunes as verified by my OLED display and the Marantz 6013. I had the same findings with Netflix shows like Stranger Things, Jessica Jones, The Punisher, Luke Cage and Daredevil.

Now, the bad news, the Amazon shows will stream in 4K, but without DV or HDR. However, those same Amazon shows will stream in 4K with DV/HDR on my Roku 4 unit.

Very frustrating indeed. Is there an issue with the ATV4K and Amazon in which you have to force DV/HDR by activating those specified settings? Any suggestions from anybody?

You would think enough of us have ATV4K units in which we can figure this out. Perhaps, I'm being a little too focus on this issue as only a few people have complained about this problem.

So Robert, did you ever find a setting that worked for Prime? I don’t have NetFlix streaming.

Your head hurts! What about mine as I've been going at this thing for the last 8-9 hours messing around with two different HT setups.

Test what Tony? It doesn't matter if it's DV or HDR.

Oh. I guess it all went over my head I thought you guys are trying to get dv to work on something ah never Mind I have no idea what’s going on.

Either way I’d have to take the Atv off the main tv and put it on the one in the bedroom.

After making the settings listed below on my Beta ATV4K unit, of the above 22 Amazon shows in my quoted post, HDR activated on just 2 of those 22 shows.which were The Man in the High Castle and Mad Dogs. My display was the OLED65E6P.

    Format: 4K SDR
    HDMI Output: YCbCr
Match Content: Match Dynamic Range "On"/Match Frame Rate "On"

Furthermore, 4 of those 22 shows didn't activate HDR on my Roku 4 unit which is very interesting. Those shows were Absentia, Hand of God, Breathe and Businessmen vs. Aliens.

By the way, I tried some UHD Amazon movies too on my Beta ATV4K and found several movies not activating HDR. Such as the following:

    Several Marvel Movies
The Bridge on the River Kwai
Close Encounters of the Third Kind
    Passengers
    The DaVinci Code
    Angels and Demons
    Zero Dark Thirty

With that said, several UHD movies on Amazon did activate HDR which were the following:

    The Natural
    Black Hawk Down
    Bran Stoker's Dracula
    The Karate Kid
    Starship Troopers
    A Few Good Men
    Spider-Man into the Spider-Verse

For the most part, I'm going to keep my settings on my ATV4K units with my OLED displays as the following because I think those are the correct settings and what's going on with Amazon is a problem that needs to be resolve between Amazon and Apple. If I have to, I'll just force HDR/Dolby Vision to watch those Amazon shows.on those two ATV4K units. It shouldn't have to be that way as there is definitely something wrong as the those settings work properly on my 4K/UHD movie digital library on the Vudu app and iTunes.

Can you imagine how much confusion, people that really aren't tech-savvy are having with their Apple devices. Of course, many of them aren't even aware they're having problems as they don't even realize they're not getting HDR with their 4K shows.:)

    Format: 4K SDR
    HDMI Output: YCbCr
Match Content: Match Dynamic Range "On"/Match Frame Rate "On"

Thanks, Robert. We are harnessing the power of the insomniac;)

My only question from that is why are we setting it to 4K SDR and not 4K HDR?

Because setting it to 4K HDR will activate HDR on the iTunes menus, but still won't activate HDR on those Amazon 4K shows.

BTW - when one of the last tvOS 13 betas was released I had mentioned that I could no longer do a voice search. I realized that the update turned off Siri dictation. Once I turned it back on, all is well.

Over all, the latest tvOS 13 beta is running very solid for me.

Just to add to confusion, I have my ATV 4K set to 4K SDR and Match Dynamic Range set to "On". It wasn't showing anything in HDR, but I suddenly noticed it is showing HDR for the Prime series Mad Dogs. I just finished The Boys, but didn't notice if it ever went to HDR for that, but I think maybe it was. I'm almost afraid to double check.

I'm assuming you're talking about just Amazon shows?
