Totally your individual call on these types of things. And also how long you plan to have/use the machine. If it's only for a few years, you may indeed never need anything past 32GB. Especially if Apple continues to treat it like a "hobby" rather than a serious product.

I view memory like I do CPU power and TV size. I never in my life thought "I wish I'd gone smaller". I know. How Freudian. :rolling-smiley:

For clarity, the AppleTV "hobby" comment was Tim Cook's, not mine. I'm not trying to disrespect the product.

Hobby or not, I think the ATV4K is the most flexible, capable, and technically advanced streamer on the market right now. Plus, Apple continues to improve it. For the money it's one of the best HT investments I've made.

I don't own many Apple products (just a new iPad which is acting flaky and some old iPods), but the ATV4K has been a much better streaming device for me so far over the two Roku 4K models I also own. For what it's worth, though, the Roku 1080p models we own have been fine for what they are used for.

The funny thing is we do not expect Atmos content on the store until the consumer release. But if Netflix or Vudu sent their app updates in early they could potentially support Atmos before Apple does

Atmos support is now in the Developer only beta for Apple TV. Hopefully there will be an insider beta that goes out to those of us who have opted in to it soon, And hopefully the store will be updated to include Atmos tracks so we can test it out, without having to wait for October.

Users on FB are reporting Atmos content is available to those in the beta, both on the Apple store and via Vudu. had no idea Vudu would work early. I will be testing tonight.

Does this mean I can save Atmos to my iTunes library from my own discs?

No. Unlike music I don't believe Apple has ever supported ripping books or videos.

I’m now Atmos enabled but I see zero content in Atmos. Nothing in my collection, nor on Vudu or Netflix

I'm not going to mess with Beta so there is no way I can check without doing so.

Atmos is available with Netflix but only through select TVs and devices plus the Windows 10app.

Sam, I don't know where you got this idea that playing back your own converted videos in iTunes isn't officially and fully supported by Apple, including storing media on external/NAS drives, but you really need to find a way to get it out of your head.

Sure you CAN use 3rd party tools to rip commercial DVDs, Blurays etc but Apple does not give you the tools to do so. AFAICT there is no Atmos support in MacOS as of yet so the answer remains the same: no, not within iTunes but maybe 3rd parties will support.

Final Cut, Garage Band and iMovie doe not support making your own non commercial Atmos tracks at this time as far as I know.

This is still unknown. I don’t think we’ll have any info until after the official release and the Plex, Kodi, and Emby devs start to play with it and users start to give feedback.

Isn't purchased iTunes video content physically downloaded to your computer? I've only bought one thing on iTunes, an episode of Frontline, and it's physically downloaded and stored on my computer. But that's my only venture into buying from iTunes.
