Most of the keyboard problem reports I've seen involve foreign matter, ie food particles, getting under the keys. If you're in the habit of eating over your laptop all of the time, then you'll inevitably have issues.

Anecdotal I know, but my 2017 MacBook Pro keyboard is used for hours daily and I've had no problems with it at all in 6 months of ownership. I do not eat while I'm using it. Fingers crossed!
