My top question -will it work well to type in a literal laptop mode:
i.e. with my MBP, I can sit on the couch and type away with the mac on my lap, with my 10.5" iPad Pro and Apple "folio" keyboard I can not -- is this new magic keyboard solid enough to let you type that way?

The Magic Keyboard would allow it. My belly will not =p

My Magic Keyboard arrived today, completing my 11" iPad Pro order. Very happy with everything. I was especially impressed with the Smart Folio case I used in the couple of week before Magic keyboard finally arrived. By far the best case I've ever had for an iPad from Apple. Indeed it and the Magic Keyboard both have the same superb ability to instantly attach/detach if you want to move the iPad from one to the other...
