At B&M Compusa's and on line. Picking up three or four when they open this morning, for myself, family members and maybe my church. This one is "enhanceable" when it comes to regions and Macrovision... [IMG]

Thanks for the notice on the deal! I read the post, and slapped a baseball cap on my non-showered head and proceeded to go to CompUSA. They just got through unloading a palet of these DVD players when I got there.
The price is right for taking a chance, and poke around the internet (do a google search) for extra features that can be activated with this player from the remote. [IMG]

I've been scanning the net about the "enhancability" of this machine, and found that the majority of users have no problem making the necessary adjustments.

I managed to get over to my COMPUSA and picked up 4(!): one for me, my sister in law, a friend and our church....

    After rebates, $53.49...

Yes, the $53.49 included sales tax.

Our COMPUSA sold out of the Apex by 1 p.m. They're subbing another model, something called Lasonic, and at a higher price....

Yes, this model has S-video and component video out. Be careful though, the rebate coupon says there is a strict limit of one rebate per household. Enjoy.

I just missed scoring one at a COMPUSA nearby...the guy right in front of me picked up the last one on the floor. [IMG]
They were willing to substitute another brand (LEGAZO ?) for the same price - but I decided to hold off. This was just going to be a bedroom DVD player for us anyway...
If I had remembered to set my clock ahead last night instead of doing it this afternoon...I would have 1 or 2 of the APEX players w/ me now [IMG]
I did manage to snag a copy of DANCES w/ WOLVES (DTS) from Best Buy today...so all is not lost [IMG]

I've been test driving my new APEX 3201 for the past few hours and it's great. The "enhanceability" is definitely there -- I just need to find a non-region 1 DVD to test.

The four players I purchased were done as four separate transactions for three separate people and our church, so the rebate situation is no problem... I'm only submitting one rebate for myself.

How's the picture on this player? I have a 27" bedroom TV and am looking for a low cost player.

Also, I have heard that low priced Apex players break down fast. Does Comp USA offer a 3 yr, $20.00 warranty or anything?

www.vcdhelp.com shows this player as 50 bucks period! Is CompUSA the only place anyone has found to get this player at this price?

At this $50 price? Yes. KMart sells this model for $90-120.

The price listed on VCDHelp might just be the lowest price that someone has reported (and since the latest review has the $50 price, one would have to surmise that that is where the $50 price is coming from. But previously the price was much higher than $50).

Good luck to anyone still looking for the 3201. It's sold out online, and out at all of our local stores too. COMP is subbing a machine that's not comparible, especially considering the 1 minute "modification" you can make to it....
