    Anyone have this unit?

    APEX AD-2500

    J&R has it for $80!!!

Looks like the Panny RP-82 minus the Faroujda cost [IMG]

Todd it may be that I am an elitest bastard, but apex is a big pile of steaming 100% grade A crap.

sorry if this offends anyone I do not mean to, I am just pointing out that APEX has a reputation for being cheaply build garbage. I would imagine you really get what you pay for from it.

the thing is Apex caters to J6P who just wants the cheapest one of dem der DVeeD players. Also isn't the Faroujda a big thing to be missing?

that's a fair reply in my eyes...

i'm not saying that it's comparable to a $3000 Denon, or even the $220 RP82

are there any sites that show comparisons to the "guts" of these type of units?

Honestly Todd im not sure, but I have seen one apex player, a friend of mine had it and it was just cheaply built, even if the electronics are the same.... i dont think its worth it.

but as a stop gap solution go for it.

On the flip side...I have an Apex and I am VERY pleased with it. I mean..it ain't at the top of the heap..but for a bedroom player as well as being "versatile"...can't be beat!

You might want to check specs on the player at:

Todd, stay away from APEX players. For one thing, the video quality offered is poor. Secondly, APEX players are plagued by reliability issues. The AD-7701 released last year looked to be a wunderkind. It was a $300 universal player, with progressive-scan DVD, DVD-Audio, SACD, MP3 CD, HDCD, etc., etc. It turned out to have all sorts of reliability issues, and it disappeared from the marketplace very quickly. Sorry, but APEX makes garbage. Just my opinion. The AD-2500 is no 'RP82.

In looking at the '2500 a little more closely, it definitely is no 'RP82. The '2500 doesn't do DVD-Audio!
