I am aware of the legal rules of satellite in the USA, but not Canada. Do any Canadians know the exact laws regarding the placement of a satelite on an apartment balcony?
    Thanks

There shouldn't be any problems as long as your landlord or your condo association has no objections to the presence of the dish on the balcony, and the service provider is Canadian based. If you get an American based dish, you might end up with legal problems further down the road.
Our condo building just got set up by Bell ExpressVu. They can supply satellite service to any number of subscribers from a single dish. On top of eliminating a bad case of dish clutter, they give out plenty of incentives for people to sign up.
Maybe you can convince the building owners to look into this option...
