I am moving (from a dorm style room) into an apartment in a couple of days. I am curious as to how people set up their HT in thier apartments. Could you please post or point me to some pictures? Of course the final layout will depend on My living room and my personal tastes, but I need some inspiration [IMG]
I guess the one thing I will miss from living in a room is watching TV from my bed [IMG]. My room is gonna feel lonely without a TV [IMG]
    So, any pics or links?

Here's my attempt at wedging a home theater into a Manhattan studio apartment. I need to update the picks to reflect the new components (upgraditis[IMG] ) but it is pretty much the same.
    Hope you like it, Brian

I live in a duplex, does that count?

I'll be putting up some real (not just stock) photos of my equipment when I overhaul the site next week.

Until then, click on my webpage or equipment list.

Sorry, no pictures to show, but I'm not sure it would make much difference. NYC apartments vary so radically, depending on many things (neighborhood, age of the building, whether it was converted to apartments from something else), that what others do probably won't work for you. I've had home theaters in three apartments, all of them with completely different setups. Two were in living rooms; my current one is in what would otherwise be a dining room.

But first things first: Good luck with your move!

You can really do a lot in an apartment .. if you're single. =) I live by myself in a 2 bedroom apartment (1 br/1 office). In my bedroom I have a Toshiba 32" + 301 DVD Changer + Crappy Aiwa DD Receiver + Take 5 System + Digital Cable.

In my living room, I've got a nice Boltz rack that holds my 600+ DVD collection on one wall. On another wall, I've got a DaLite High Contrast 120" screen. Embedded into my coffee table, I've got an NEC LT150 front projector. My A/V rack sits next to my DVD rack and has a Sony STRDB930 Receiver, Digital Cable Box, VCR, Crappy Toshiba 3109 DVD player. I'll be upgrading my DVD player and buying an iScan Plus v2 next week. Speakers are another Take 5 set. I've found that spending a lot of money on speakers and subs in an apartment is useless since you can never really crank the system up.

Excluding the DVDs and furniture, my total equipment cost was probably ~$5k for both rooms.

Pictures will follow in a few days. I haven't had a chance yet to unpack my Slik tripod I bought from B&H Photo on Friday!

So, Donald... Is your sub any faster with the turbo, or does it lag till you really get it going?

    I am also in CT...
These are some pics from my last apartment. No longer have that evil column to contend with. [IMG]
Sound doesn't travel as well through the walls either. Good thing too because I think my new neighbor is about 80 and probably wouldn't respond well to the Pod Race scene.

Here is a pic of my apartment system in a 16'x13'x8' room. Very similar to Charles (plus in the same city) with Monitor 7s, CC350, Mini Monitors, SVS sub and even the Toshiba SD2200 DVD player. Spooky isn't it? [IMG] For the rest of my pics use the link in my sig.
