I just purchased today my new TV: Sony KDS-60A3000 Lcos Rear projection 1080p 120Htz HDTV.

I have an old Xbox360 (no HDMI output) and I was wondering what I might need to do to get 1080p from my Xbox360 into my TV?

I have a friend that was told that you can only get 1080p out of the VGA cord, and that his Sony (A2020) would not allow him to display a 1080p signal.

I plugged my Xbox360 in (via HD component cables) and told my xbox360 to send out a 1080p signal, and the dashbord never looked better..and then I watched Oceans13 and it looked OK, a little grainy, but OK...and I was wondering if I was even really seeing 1080p or not?

Thanks for any help in advance! God bless ya!

Engadget HD has a list on resolutions over component for each area of use, if your tv can handle 1080p over component is another question (if it can then at least the dashboard and games are 1080p).

Component:

HD DVD - 1080i resolution maximum, limited by AACS
DVD - Upscaled to 480p maximum, limited by CSS
Games - 720p games upscaled to 1080p, also supports native-1080p games in the future
