I am interested in building a flexy for a Panasonic 36HX40 I will be buying. I know it should hold the weight, but I was wondering if anyone has actually done it with an 36" tv. ALso, if anyone has any pictures to post with the TV on it that would be great. What is the biggest diamter all thread you can get? Should I use 3/4" and double the tv shelf or can I go with 1" thick MDF? One concern I have is I would like to put casters on the bottom of it it help move it around a little like if I need to swap out components. Would the rack be to flexy for this? My plan is to have 2 or 3 shelves under the TV.

I'm pretty sure others have put 36" TVs on their flexies. Your best bet would be to double up the 3/4" MDF for your TV shelf. And you should also be fine with 5/8" all thread, as long as you use four of them instead of 3. Someone posted a calculation once covering the strength of the all-thread, and as long as your shelves aren't spaced very far apart, you'll be fine.

I plan on using 6 rods. The corners and then two in the middle. The two in the middle would not run all the way through the top shelf but the shelf would rest on them.

I Currently don't have my 36" tv on my flexy.
This is because it's in the shop. I've only had it on
the flexy for 2 weeks before catastrophic TV tube failure.
Anyway after placing it on the flexy I did not notice
any more flex in the MDF than with my 27".
My flexy is made with 3/4"MDF 4'by18"
It has 4 shelves (more shelves seemed to add quite a bit
to the stability. (TV sits on top shelf about 2' off
    the ground).
I have 5 rods supporting this.
1 in each corner plus 1 in the exact middle.
The top shelf is not secured with nuts on the top.
It sits flush with the top of the rods. So I could take
the tv off then remove the top shelf without undoing anything.
6 rods is probably overkill depending on the size of shelf
    and thickness of MDF.
Another thing I noticed was that the middle Rod is not
really visible being set back a few inches (9").
It's also not causing any problems with equipment placement.
I don't have any pictures sorry.
