I was thinking of building a 281 kit and it is a 4 ohm speaker. I looked on the back of my Onkyo and it has a setting for 4 ohm. Would my 8 ohm speakers have a much lower volume if set on 4 ohms? Anything else to think about?

I set up my buddy's home theater with all Ascend Acoustics speakers and a Hsu sub. The Ascends are all 4 Ohm. So, we just flicked the switch on his 595 yo the 4 Ohm setting and were done with it.

Amplifiers are supposed to increase their output into a lower resistance, so if you just left it at the 8 Ohm setting and compared an 8 Ohm and 4 Ohm speaker of similar sensitivity, the 4 Ohm one would be louder.
