Anyone using a current Tivo? (1 Viewer)

I was wondering what their boxes/software are like these days. I had a Series 2 quite awhile back and ended up getting rid of it because their software update had made the UI annoying slow. I was thinking of picking up one of their refurbs to use with over the air stuff and maybe later, adding a cable card for Comcast.

I am most interested in the speed of the UI. Menus, responsiveness of fast forward and reverse, things of that nature.

When Tivo first upgraded the software on their premier units, it was very clunky.

Since then, more upgrades have been done and overall response is quite good.

Still love a Tivo over any other set top box, though I don't understand why a
subscription charge is being implemented with all the ads they show on their
interface.

I've got a pair of Series 3 with cablecards.I didn't upgrade to the series 4, Preimiere line. The reviews at launch didn't make me want to spend the money beyond my current 3's. But if I were at S2 still, I'd go to the new 4's if only for HD and faster wireless transfers.
