My friend just upgraded his car stereo and now has 2 12" Image Dynamics IDQ (original, not v.2) subs and is considering using them for HT next year when we get a house. In Unibox they plot pretty well, but someone had told him that they have weak motors so aren't good for HT. In Unibox I was able to get a mid to low 20's F3 in a 100-150L box, vented. Would a pair of these be fine for HT? A datasheet on the subs can be seen here: IDQ12 specs. Thanks!

I have an IDQ 10 in my car. They do not have weak motors. They are among the absolute best car audio subs there are, and usually car subs have stronger motors than home. They are way heavier duty than most home subs and can takes a tone of power. I am about to get a new car sud and use my IDQ in my house. If you have the right kind of box and some good amplification I dont see why it wouldn't be good. It sounds so good in my car, I can only imagine waht is will sound like in my dorm room.
