I ran across one of these the other day and was wondering if anyone out there is using one. This piece looks like a great Ipronto substitute at a great price. I was wondering if this pad was as easy to program as the Pronto pieces. Also, how is the range of th IR signals? I am looking to build custom skins for the remote, and from what I understand you can do this with the SIMPad. Any help or input would be great!!!

I would love to do this as well after reading about it on remotecentral. I figure this is where you read about them as well? If not, check out the PDA forum and the iPronto forum for discussions on using RemoteControl 2.

It sounds to me like it does everything the ipronto does except for the TV Guide program. I think the cons of the tablet PC are less hard buttons and a weaker IR emitter. Though you can get an IR card that will take care of that problem. I think the advantage of the simpad is that it can also be used for other "pc" functions as well.

Chris,
Thanks for the response. I am not running a HTPC yet. I was looking for a stand alone device that I could use with a HTPC down the road.
