I had the samsung hd931, or something like that, and brought it back cuz it wouldn't work right with copyright protection. So, i'm looking for a player that has 1080i and doen NOT need a DVI cable to do so. I use monster component cables.

There is the Lite On player. Model LVD-2002.

    Small review here.

Upon further review I am now not sure if this player will do the 1080i. I thought the LVD-2001 did and the LVD-2002 is the replacement model for it. I know there is a lengthy thread on the LVD-2001 here.

Why do you want it? 480p is all you really get no matter what ya know.

Tom, the Samsung HD1000 does not have a DVI connection and can upconvert to 720p or 1080i. It is more expensive than the 931, it weighs 37.5 lbs., play DVD-Audio supernly and does HDCD too. I understand the new Pioneer Elite universal player will upconvert as well. For more info on the Samsung, see: http://www.samsung.com/Products/DVDP...DVD_HD1000.htm
