Fred Schepesi's Australian film is supposed by most critics to be a knockout but, like so many superb films (FRIENDS OF EDDIE COYLE, A HIGH WIND IN JAMAICA, etc. etc.) has been MIA on all forms of video. Has anyone an idea of who owns this one, so that we might do a little campaigning?

At last check, New Yorker Films had released it in America, so I suspect it's theirs.
Another Fred Schepisi movie that's become impossible to find is THE DEVIL'S PLAYGROUND. With the scrutiny on church abuses, it would be quite timely to reissue this early treatment on the subject.

I'd definitely appreciate a US release of Jimmie Blacksmith. I've only seen it as a VHS import from Australia and thought it was very good. The violence in the film was particularly disturbing, IMO.
