I make my own using a variety of stuff, sometimes with Canare and Belden. Belden also has a good website (www.belden.com) and within the website they have white papers and recommendations on what to use for different applications.

When using the Belden 1810A cable.... do you combine two strands to form a twisted pair or do you make a set of cables out of it?

Wayne,
I think that DIY cables have a definite advantage as the price/performance ratio is probably the largest in home audio. When you look at the prices of cables, even BetterCables, it's practically a no-brainer to make your own. I tell ya, seeing the difference between the prices of the raw materials vs. the finished product, I'm tempted to start my own cable company. Maybe I should call it Way Better Cables! I could mark them up another 20% or so! :)
