I must say I did actually enjoy this in the cinema and am looking forward to the DVD despite what the critics said. At three hours long it was a bit of a stretch in the cinema but should cross-over well into the home. I'm sure the DVD will be superb.

If nothing else, it should sound wonderful. It did in the theater!

As for the bad rap about the characters--hey, I've seen space operas that put their emphasis on human personalities and relationships. They're called "Star Trek" movies. Give me transparent underwater cities and vast hollow senatorial spheres any day. --Roger Ebert on The Phantom Menace

I am sure the chapter search will get a healthy workout on this title. Skip, skip, skip...ok, war scene...skip, skip, skip...war scene...

Most of the movies that seem to be disappointing to alot of the HTF members I've liked (Star Wars,FF, Monsters Inc.) and have been very pleased with. I didn't see Pearl Harbor so I'm eager to get my hands on this puppy. [IMG]

Damn skippy! I too really liked this movie, the WHOLE thing. It got the blessing of those that were really their, and if this movie is good enough for them, it's good enough for me.
And agreed, the audio WILL be reference. I can finally give Saving Private Ryan a rest!

I saw this in theaters and I didn't really enjoy it. I felt the movie had great special effects but lacked everywhere else. I personally don't look very foward to this title.

I have not seen the film yet despite the lukewarm reviews, I am looking forward to it and will buy it on faith that I will like it. This is one of the few times I have/will do this. I have a feeling that one of the reasons many don't like it is because the Pearl Harbour incident was a very sensitive time in US history, and a typical Hollywood movie (even a half decent one) would not do it justice in their eyes.

Yeah I'am looking forward to it.Me and my dad were going to see it in the theater but something always came up,so since then he got a 53 Hitachi,so I think I'll bring the dvd player over for him to watch it.The last movie we saw together at the theater was Midway in Sensurround and it blew him out of his seat so I think he might enjoy this since he was on the USS NEVADA in Pearl Harbor in 41. It was an okay movie. Not as bad as the critics said it was.
I was put off by the sheer amount of CGI in this film. It is hard to suspend disbelief when so much of the movie is not real. And doesn't look real.
Was i the only one that noticed the aerial shots of the Harbor showed Aegis class frigates at anchor?

I had agreed to transport my wife from Madison to Minneapolis (a five hour drive) so she could visit a friend, with the agreement that we were to catch a showing of Pearl Harbor.
The ladies "Changed their minds", so I was forced to sit through "Bridgett Jones Diaries". [IMG]
In short, I am exited to see Pearl Harbor. The funny thing is, from what I've read, my wife and her friend STILL may like it more than I will. [IMG]

I am looking forward to picking up this DVD. As others have said, the sound should be great. However, at this point I have no idea which of the 3 (?) versions I'll acquire. Honestly, I haven't really done a lot of homework on the differences between the versions. Which version will everyone here buy?

I am pretty excited for this one, myself. Although a little let-down by it in the theater, parts of it were still brilliant, and I think David Prior will do a great job. Count me in for both DVD's (or all 6!!!).
    Take care,
    Chuck

Nope, didn't like it. Not going to suffer through it again.
The only saving grace is that I didn't have to pay for the admission (free preview ticket). I just wish I could get that lost 3 hours of my life back.
