In another thread I put a link to some old pics of a band I was in.
Anyone out there in a band? Any gig or rehearsal photos?

I didn't know Jeff was in a band.
Now I'm curious, since we live in the same city, if I've ever seen him play.
Unfortunately, he doesn't have a homepage set...so where is his website?

You know, if I were ever to wind up in "Vandsterdam," there would be some rocking good times with you guys. Your town truly is beautiful, judging from what I've seen in photographs--and counterculture-friendly.

Sorry, Rain, just noticed your request re Jeff's Website. Check out that "gerbils" thread which is still active; he has a post in it, along with all the links.

Brad ... what type of music did you guys play? Was it Speed Metal?
I saw in one of the pictures your singer wearing a KREATOR shirt ... so I figured it was some heavy stuff

Aurel, no, not speed metal. We were unique. We rapped, groweled, screamed, sang in melodic harmony, screeched, and yelled to a groove-esque heavy sound. Kinda like Machine Head plus Limp Bizkit plus Ocean Machine plus The Gathering plus Madonna equals Oddity.

My current band is called Redd Shift. We write all of our own songs since we don't like playing cover tunes. We've been described as kind of an 80's hard rock band. Although we have a few songs that sound like something from that era, most of our material is straight up hard rock with some jazz and funk thrown into the mix. No growling vocals for us. Our singer actually sings, unlike most of the current hard rock that seems to be popular at the moment.
We've been together for almost two years and have about 25 songs written, although a couple of them are still in the finishing stages. To me that's not bad considering how often we are able to get together and practice. Everyone but me lives in the KC area so I have to drive an hour and a half to practice each time.
I don't have a scanner so I'm not able to provide any pics, but I'll see what I can do. The wife of one of the guys in the band is quite saavy on the computer so I may be able to post some pics later on if anyone is really interested.
BTW, the quote in my sig is actually taken from one of our songs called "What I'm After".

While I'm not in a band (I'm a DJ), I worked for years in Anchorage at a club called Gig's Music Theater. It was an all-ages non-alcoholic joint, and each night we'd have two or three bands play, with DJ's before, after, and between the sets. The club closed down a couple years back, but I've kept the website I did for the site active in my archives.
I'm not sure how much this may interest anyone, but if you'd like to take a look at what the under-21 band scene was like in Anchorage for a few years, Link Removed .
