I love this movie, but was dissapointed with the quality of the non-anamorphic original release. I'm surprised I haven't heard anyone comment on the new SE DVD that came out yesterday. What's the audio/video quality like? Is it f$%#in money?!

I picked it up yesterday from Costco ($12.99!) but haven't had a chance to check it out yet. I plan on getting to it this weekend, hopefully. I love this movie!

"I spend half the night talking to some girl who's looking around the room to see if there's somebody else who's more important she should be talking to. And it's like I'm supposed to be all happy 'cause she's wearing a backpack, you know?"

Dude, it's so money and it doesn't even know it.
This is a definite improvement in picture and sound over the old release.
It's not DEMO material, as it was made on a shoestring budget. But if you're considering whether to replace it or not, DO SO RIGHT NOW! [IMG]

DeepDiscountDVD apparently is having some sort of problem with this title, as they shipped my order without it and the status still shows as "PREORDER."
I'm calling them (literally right now ... I'm on hold) to cancel it and I'll just pick it up at Costco, and save nearly a dollar in the process.
    Addendum:
Yep, the lady said it was on backorder.
As I was hanging up, she said, "Thank you for calling Critic's Choice." I know the name Critic's Choice as a second-rate Columbia House ... has DeepDiscountDVD always been part of them, is this a recent change, or did this lady make a boo-boo?

You know, I'm having the same problem with Swingers. I pre-ordered that and AHDN from Amazon, and my order still has not yet shipped! They are quoting me a shipping time sometime next week. This NEVER happens with Amazon. They almost always ship the day before release and I have it the next day.

BVHV must be having fulfillment problems for the online retailers. I have a bunch of DVDs to go through, so I'll wait it out, but geez, between this and B&B, 9/24 turned out to be a real disappointing DVD day.

There may be truth to the "hard to find" theory.

Yesterday at Best Buy they had tons of every title I wanted (bought five) yesterday *except* Swingers which only had 2-3 on the shelf. Of course, it's also a college town so I figured people bought em up.

    "Where is this disc?"
"For some reason all the cool DVDs have to be hard to find and have no etailers. It's kind of like a bootleg kind of thing. It's kind of cool. It's like you're in on some kind of secret. You tell a chick you have a disc and it's like you're bragging that you know how to find it."

I picked up my copy today at Costco for $12.99, but there were only 5 left. Not nearly the inventory of other new releases this week. If you have a Costco nearby, you might want to get down there asap.

Got it today at Best Buy. Watched it just a little while ago. Great movie. Decent DVD. A/V quality was as good as can be expected for this low budget film. Certainly worth 15 bucks!!!!

Well, I went to one of the Costcos here in Charlotte on the way home from work yesterday, and they didn't have it. Didn't even have a hole where it used to be. I can only hope that the other one has it when I stop by there tomorrow.

For us lucky Canadians, we're stuck until October 8th (Hard Day's Night is also delayed until the 1st). The delay is probably so we can get wonderful bilingual packaging. [IMG]

Thanks for digging out that little nugget, Damin.

Still, I'm curious as to whether this is a recent development. DDD seems to have gone downhill over the last few months.

Well, the DDD-backorder/Costco-didn't-have-it story has a happy ending. The other Costco in town didn't have it either, but Borders did, which in combination with the 20% coupon I found over in the Bargains forum (which rings up at 15% off for DVDs of course), I got it for a good price.
