I have a really important package en route to Italy that I sent with Global Priority (EMS)

The latest status when I check the tracking states that it just cleared customs in GERMANY--?

Is this just a pitstop or is this a major fubar by the USPS?

Your package should get to its destination just fine. It's likely that the carrier has a logistics centre somewhere in Germany that all packages originating in the USA must pass through.

DVDs I've ordered from Deep Discount DVD (I believe they use USPS) have often been postmarked in Germany in addition to the original sending location. Other international mail I've received has passed through the UK, France, or Belgium before reaching its final destination.

As long as Vladivostok doesn't show up on your tracking report, there's no need to worry.

Thank you, you have put my mind at ease. Here's hoping it doesn't end up in Taiwan [IMG]
