Anyone Having Problems Getting Replacement DVD's from Universal? (1 Viewer)

Like so many people, I managed to get a few defective DVD's (Casino, Alfred Hitchcock Presents, Columbo - Season 3) from Universal. I contacted them via their website and, per their instructions, sent them the defective discs. That was back in mid-October. To date, mid-December, I still haven't gotten replacements. I sent a note of inquiry via the internet a couple of days ago but haven't gotten a reply. Just wondering if anyone else is experiencing this same problem? Am I expecting Universal to do this too quickly? Maybe the company suffered a deluge of discs and is backlogged. Anyone know anything about this?

I've sent a few things to Universal for replacement in the past (E.T., Hitchcock) and have always received them back quickly. The turnaround is probably around two weeks, if that. They've always been shipped back Fedex -- standard USPS from me to them.

I last sent something back to them in September or so and got it back promptly.

Good luck.

I didn't get mine back that fast. SInce you had more than one, did you send them in together? I'm not sure if that would make a difference, but I had to say it. I can see some very, very simple program set up to do that.

You are sure that they got it?
With me, I'd complain, and then they ALWAYS show up.
You could have had a title that they were out of stock on, and they had to scrounge one up from somewhere.
As much as it sucks, I think I'd wait unti after the 25th.

I mailed in my defective disc 2 of the Hammer Series in late October, received the replacement by the end of November.

Just curious and in case I need it, but what is the address that the defective discs need to be sent to?

I'm sure that one of the computer gurus out there can make this easier for you than this, but one way to reach the site that'll enable you to correspond with Universal is as follows:

Go to the Universal website:
www.universalstudios.com

Click on "Contact Us"
Click on "accept"
In the "Entertainment Section", click on "DVD & VHS"
In FAQ, click on "Contact Us"

A screen will appear which will allow you to type a note, discussing any problem you've been having with a Universal DVD. After you've typed your note, send it in and wait for a reply. Normally, you'll get an answer within a day or two, detailing the procedures for returning an item.

Hope this helps.

I just received a very nice e-mail note from Universal, advsing that my replacement discs were shipped within the past six days and should be arriving soon. Although I was hoping to get them quicker, I'm happy to know they're on the way. Maybe at this time of year, eight weeks turnaround time isn't too bad, however.

I used the "contact us" site and wrote it explaining that my copies of "Psycho", "Vertigo", and "Apollo 13" were bad and I received a reply in about three days. I guess it took long because I wrote in on a Saturday. Anyway, their response gave instructions on how to send the defective ones in, which I then did. I received replacement copies of "Psycho" and "Apollo 13" but not "Vertigo". I wrote back telling them of the missing DVD and received a prompt response promising a replacement via FEDEX. I have to admit that I was impressed by the customer service. Now if only Universal could do the same about the actual quality of their products.

I just used the web site to request replacement of Vertigo and Psycho. Jeez, do they have a problem with Hitchcock?

The web site said it would take 2-3 weeks to receive a reply just to indicate whether they have the titles or not. I hope my results are like Michaels and it takes less time than not.

BTW, I only found a location on the web site for "discs I have damaged myself." It'll cost me a little over $10 to replace the two. Still cheaper than buying them outright.

Which release of Vertigo and Psycho are faulty?

I own the "Old" Collector´s Edition of both, but never got time to watch them.

The Vertigo is the first release of the restored version. I think both are the old collector's editions.

I had forgotten I had previously reported these two discs as defective. Needless to say, I never received a reply. I just used the website again to report the discs.

Has anyone discovered a more effective way to reports defective discs to universal?
