The discs I've burned on this unit look great and play fine on the DMR, but my APEX 600A won't touch them, and my Pioneer DV-505 plays them for a while and then freezes in various places. I am using Digital Media general purpose blanks (one-sided, 4.7 GB) which cost me $4.99 each at Circuit City. I don't want to keep throwing away five bucks a shot for discs I can't bring to a friend's house and play. Anyone else having these concerns? I've ordered 25 4.7's from Apple.com, which I hope will work better.

My Sony player plays my E20-created discs just fine, and so does my computer. I also have an Apex 600AD like you, and it will not play DVD-R discs at all. I'm using the Apple discs almost exclusively now.

My next DVD player will be the Panasonic RP91 so i'll have another machine that can play DVD-RAM discs.

Thanks, Mike. Actually, I now find that if I record in the XP speed (one hour per side), it will play through on my Pioneer, but any 2-4-6 hour modes freeze up at certain points. I am hoping the Apple discs will eliminate this problem.
