I was wondering if the commentary on there is worth picking it up for, or if they just rehash mostly the same stuff as in the doc.

The DVD Times says on the commentary:
This is the extra that has made Region 2 fans mock those who spent their hard-earned cash on the Region 1 version, as this commentary is exclusive to the Region 2 version and was only recorded at the end of 2001. The commentary is magnificent, with Lee, Woodward and Hardy all talking fondly of the production and offering their own viewpoints, and each are kept at a merry pace by moderator Mark Kermode, who is surprisingly keen to just sit back and let the participants talk to their heart's content. A magnificent extra, and one worthy enough to start selling your Region 1 version for.
And Link Removed:
Perhaps the prize exhibit of the set though (apart from the director's cut of course) is a commentary track from Edward Woodward, Christopher Lee, Director Robin Hardy and moderated by Mark Kermode. This is an exclusive commentary recorded in December 2001 and is cracking material. It is available on disk 2 and is specific to the extended version and indeed the participants talk at length about the new scenes in that version. All four participants work extremely well in the commentary and bring to the forum many interesting points of view, anecdotes and insider information that simply is not available anywhere else. This is first class material for anyone interested in the film, or indeed the way the movie business works. Well worth the price of the disk it self !
Certainly sounds interesting......

I have both R1 & R2 and the commentary on the R2 is superb, gives loads of in depth info.
There is also an easter egg of around 15 - 20 minutes of video footage of the commentary recording session, as they start of watching the film and recording the commentary.
