Well, I can tell you that I really like Nosferatu: The Vampyre and I know for sure that many people on this forum really like Fitzcarraldo and Aguirre. Hope you enjoy them.

I saw this at Best Buy last week for $49.99. I intended to buy it this week with my 10% off coupons, but when I went back, they'd marked it up to $61.99.
I guess I should have scarfed it last week. I had a feeling the $49.99 might have been a mis-price. [IMG]

It's definitely one of the coolest box sets I've seen. Those multi-colored slimline cases are pretty nifty.

As far as the films go, I was slightly disappointed with Aguirre, only to be completely blown away by Woyzeck and Fitzcarraldo. I saw Nosferatu many years ago and haven't gotten around to watching the DVD or Cobra Verde, but so far the films I've seen from it, the price I paid for it, and the nice inclusion of My Best Fiend make it one of the best purchases I've made to date.

I love this set. I have only seen Aguirre and Nosferatu so far, and Herzog is quickly becoming one of my most respected filmmakers. Can't wait to check out Fitzcarraldo!

I snapped that one up in a heartbeat! I greatly admire Herzog and this set is essential for Herzog fans.

The Kaspar Hauser and Heart Of Glass DVDs are also superb. The transfer on the latter is stunning and the ending is one of my favourite film endings in Cinema.

I paid £46.00 for it at DVD Box Office.

Don't just stop at the box set. Check out some of his other stuff: STROSZEK -with probably the most bizzare and disturbing ending of any film I've ever seen) and EVEN DWARFS STARTED SMALL -which Herzog wrote as a recation to being locked-up and beaten in an African prison while shooting his documentary FATA MORGANA, which is yet another amazing piece of work, see REAL mirages!

Its a great set. Its also limited to a fairly low number (like 5000-10000) but the sets are not individually numbered.

I've been meaning to get the Stroszek DVD for a while now. It's a beautifully bizarre film, and like Paul said, the ending is disturbing. But's it's brilliant.

Is it possible Anchor Bay will release a second boxed set with:
    Even Dwarfs Started Small
    The Enigma of Kasper Hauser
    Heart of Glass
    Stroszek
    Lessons of Darkness
    Little Dieter Needs to Fly

Are there any plans to release MY BEST FRIEND separately, or is it only available in the box?

Aside from the new edition of Nosferatu, which was just recently made available, the films in the box (including My Best Fiend) have been available seperately since 2000.
