I think the magazine hits the newsstands a few weeks earlier in the U.S. than in Canada. I'm just curious as to what they've selected as the best recordings of 2002.

What was the criteria? Sonics or content? Are these the best SOUNDING recordings of 2002, or simply the best overall (when taking into consideration the music quality?). Just curious. Same for the DVD's. Are these the best transfers and sound combos or do they take into consideration the quality of the actual film? Thanks.

    slightly off-topic question.

i thought i saw an "annual buyer's guide" from s&v on the news-stand shelves.

as a subscriber, do we get those?

i've been subscribing for a couple of years but can't recall ever getting an issue like that.

Wasn't Moulin Rouge a 2001 release on DVD? I remember that Ron had it as his DVD of the year.

I'm a tad surprised that Beck's "SEA CHANGE" didn't make the list, but I'm shocked that "THE COMPLETE MONTEREY POP FESTIVAL" didn't show up among the best DVDs.

Perhaps this is more of a home-theater related magazine than a music-related one? Still... lame.

(And if S&V purports to be a music magazine, including "Moulin Rouge" over "Hedwig and the Angry Inch" is yet one more signifier of inherent lameness.)
