    Bruin,
I hope you have better luck than me. I've asked this same question a few times (& for more expensive models) and didn't get much of a response.

If you can DIY yourself check out the Partsexpress DIY's for $138. They sould great but are a 4 ohm load and inefficient. I heard them at the MAF2002 and was very impressed.

    Thanks for the tips guys.

I am mainly looking for a DIY pair to serve as surround duty. I am hesitant to get a kit to build because I'm busy during the week. So if anyone can recommend a prebuilt kit or even a used kit please post.

I've upped the budget to $200 total.

the k05b50s from speakerpage.com would be a great choice if you have a sub and your receivers LFE crossover is 90hz or more.

    prebuilt they'll run you $160

For surrounds, I agree with Jason's suggestion.

I actually use the ko5b50's for fronts and surrounds, and like them a lot, especially for the money.

Wes and those who have heard the ko5b50's:

What other speakers have you compared them to and how do they compare?

Sorry Wes, didn't mean to say that they wouldn't work well for fronts. I meant that especially for bruin's desired surround duty, these would work particularly great.

After reviewing past threads a few months ago, this kit or various modified kits have been well thought of by more than a few members (Jason, Dustin B, even Hank & Brian B. collaborated to modify the kit in what is now RAD's M1 speakers).

Considered these myself, but am now looking at something more along the lines of the EGOs or A/V-1s.

  10. Joey, you just need to fly out to southern california for this weekends DIY gathering[IMG]

The EGO's and /V3's among many other DIY designs will be there. good stuff [IMG]
