Anyone have a dvd player that plays DVD-Audio?
What does a DVD-A disk sound like?
That's a pretty vague question. I have a Panasonic CP72 and I also have a few DVD-A's.
Some discs are not too worthy for use of the multichannel format, some only being sonically enhanced. However, some discs like BLUE MAN GROUP: AUDIO take the format to the limits and produce a sound that envelopes the entire room with transient instruments.
Is it worth the upcharge? On some discs yes...on others no. It all depends on the actual format and audio mix.
I got a DVD-A player in the form of a Denon 3800. Since I just got the unit yesterday I can't really say how the DVD Audio playback on it sounds...but listening to the Dolby Digital track of the discs on my Marantz sound stunning.
My most recommended disc: Linkin Park - Reanimation
Hear the surrounds come at you with this. Even if you like the music or not..see what S&V considered the best surround sound they have ever heard.
