Anyone gone to 36" form RPTV??? (1 Viewer)

I have a rather small theater room (12x13ft) and want to experience gaming through my system. I have heard enough horror stories to keep me away from running the PS2 on my 51" Panny. If I were to switch to a direct view HDTV 36" tv, am I going to be terribly disappointed? Given the smaller size of my room and my viewing distance of about 6-7ft what do you guys think.
Fire away? and feel free to call me crazy if you think I am for wanting to do this.

I own both a 36" tube HDTV and a 65" HDTV.

I never watch the 36" and play games like they are going out of style on the 65".

-edit- maybe a 40 inch DLP set would fit the bill for you with the limited viewing distance?
