I've been waiting forever for Fox to release this. It comes out 06/01 at a very low price (around $11). They could have easily have released it as a barebones for that price but it has a director/writer commentary, interviews with the stars, a making-of, and trailers. That's practically a SE. Take note Paramount - this is how you release your catalogue DVDs.

I lobbied for this title in the Studio Feedback section a couple of years back.....It's finally here so I'll be picking it up for sure.

Great drama and ourstanding acting by Daniel Day Lewis and Joan Allen, the latter being nominated for an Academy Award for her performance.

What the hell took so long? This isn't an obscure catalog title. It was quite recent when DVD first hit, it fact.

I know! I'm not sure either. I guess it was one of the studio's smaller films that was somehow forgotten when it came to a DVD release.

Interestingly, I haven't found the cover art for the DVD anywhere. Amazon doesn't have an image at all and other retailers only have the theatrical one-sheet on display. I hope they don't use the VHS cover art, which had two big floating heads and a crappy font. If they do use the one-sheet as DVD cover art, that would be terrific.

I just received the movie this morning. The back cover forgot to list the commentary but it is indeed there so that's a relief. The trailer is even anamorphic. Bravo and thanks, Fox!

This, together with a few R2 releases, will finally complete all the significant entries in the Winona Ryder filmography in my DVD collection! Woo hoo! [IMG]

Netflix does not list this title. What a bummer. I guess I am going to have to email them a request for this title.

Glad to see I'm not the only one building a Winona collection... :b Now, where in the heck is Roxy Carmichael??

I'm glad this one is finally here. Having worked on a production of the play I'm pretty familiar with Miller's text, and I thought the film was a first-rate adaptation. It was sadly overlooked when it was released back in 1996.

Thanks to Fox for coming through with what sounds like a nice release for a VERY nice price. [IMG]

I have both Night on Earth and Welcome Home Roxy Carmichael on R2 DVD thanks to amazon.co.uk, so I'm virtually complete. Alas, the fact that my region-free player doesn't do proper anamorphic PAL conversion, coupled with my hate for PAL speedup, makes me an unhappy camper. [IMG] I would kill for an R1 or NTSC Roxy Carmichael since that may be my fave Winona flick and my P&S laserdisc isn't cutting it anymore.

Well I must say I am very pleased with the quality of this disc. The transfer is stunning to my eyes.

This movie has a few long shots and they are clear as a bell. Very detailed even in the indoor scenes.

The Crucible is a 'talkie' so I wouldn't get too excited about reference surround material although the sound quality is more than adequate and satisfying

It was like a whole new experience for me to see it looking this good as I have only seen it on VHS before and it's been a while.

Great movie, great transfer with a few extras and a great price. Well done Fox. Happy consumer here[IMG]

Hell, I haven't found the actual DVD yet! I missed it in theaters and have been wanting to see it but have refused to watch a VHS or TV version. I can't find it at Best Buy or any other store in my area. [IMG]
