Admit it, we all have [IMG]
My experience was when I was 10 years old and moved from the mildly warm west coast of British Columbia to this very cold city named Edmonton. I remember vividly the chain link fence that ran between the road and the school property. It was pretty cold out and I ...well...just HAD to stick my tongue to the fence.
I never tried that stunt again.

I think that was covered in a scene in "A Christmas Story". [IMG]

Growing up in Florida I had to improvise, I did it with a metal ice tray out of the freezer.

I think most people who have grown up in a colder climate have done this. Of course it was perfectly illustrated by poor little Ricky(I think that was his name) in "A Christmas Story".

I've done it a few times when I was very young. I had the knack to know exactly when to pull away to avoid being held hostage by a hostile metal post. [IMG]

I was 7 when I pressed my lips against a metal fence. The first 3 times nothing happened, but on the 4th try I got stuck to the fence and panicked. I yanked my lips off and my bottom lip started bleeding from the skin on my lips being ripped.

If only I had known to breath on the fence, I wouldn't have lost skin that day.

I was probably about 8 at the time. It was the rear view mirror of my mom's car, she was inside my aunt's house talking and I was waiting to leave. I had seen "A Christmas Story", I knew what was gonna happen, but I just wanted to test it I guess. Could have been worse...

Isn't there a law in Canada that you must try this at least once to be a real Canadian? Hehehe. I did it twice, hey I was a slow learner. [IMG]

His name was Flick, wasn't it?

I never did it, but one of my friends stuck his tongue to one of the metal racks in the freezer.

    Another me too post here
I also believe most kids who grow up in colder climates and are constantly getting warned about it automatically have to test if it really is true or how it really is. after all, the rules are made to be broken!
I remember trying it in the autumn one year after being constantly tempted walking by one of the metal kerosene barrels on our farm. I remember feeling it getting stuck and ripping loose in panic, and seeing small bits of skin still stuck to the barrel. Never did it again or told anyone about it (until now actually)

I have but was lucky enough to pull away before my tongue had fully froze to the poll. We dared a kid one time to stick his tongue to a football field goal when we were playing tackle football in the snow. Man that wasnt good. We had to actually go get some warm water because he couldnt get the damn thing off. I guarantee you that after that none of us ever tried it again. [IMG]

Kyle, you had nice friends. The kids I hung out with would have left him there, stuck to the pole...
