Anyone ever got their speakers powder coated?

The other day I saw a truck with an add of powder coating on it, as my kit 281's still need a finish I figured mayhaps I could get em powder coated.

Called the people up today, it'd cost about 300 bucks Canadian to get both cabinets done.

Thoughts?

I don't know if anyone has done it or not but I think that powercoating is overkill. The good news is, that stuff is really durable.

Powder coating involves attaching an electrode on the item to be coated. Then the powder is applied, it's attracted by the negative charge created by the electrode. After that the item is baked in an oven. Does this sound like something you should to to a speaker cabinet?

Only objects which can be electricaly charged can be powder
coated plus the part must be able to withstand a 400 degree
bake temperature.

"Powder Coat" is plasticized dyes that adhere to a part via
static charge untill they are baked at 400 degrees which
causes the plastic dye to melt into a uniform colored plastic
coating.
