I love the single, "I'm gonna getcha good", and am really lexcited about this album.
Yes, it's not very countrylike, and yes it's rather irrelevant pop in the great scheme of things, but I just want some bouncy new, well-written, happy songs, and judging by the titles (and by "Come on over") that's what I'll get (no shortage of exclamation points there):
    Up!
    I'm Gonna Getcha (Good)
Thank You Baby! (For Making Someday Come So Soon)
    Not Just Another Pretty Face
    Juanita
    Forever and for Always
    Ka-Ching
I'm Not in the Mood (To Say No)
    Shouda Woulda Coulda
    I'm Jealous
    Waiter! Bring Me Water
    Knock 'Em Down
    Nah!
    Marry Me, Baby!
    Tomorrow
    No Means Yes
    Blah! Blah! Blah!
    Her Story
    The End of Us
I bet some feminists out there are thrilled about the title "No means yes", no matter what the song is about. [IMG]
Anyway, anyone else waiting for this album?
    /Mike

The recent release sounds way too derivative of her earlier work. No growth here at all. Seems formulaic. Look to the Dixie's Home for the way to do country popstardom right.

I agree, it's a great album. I wouldn't really count Shania as country anymore though, not that it matters.

I'm looking forward to the new Shania. I like having a little mindless, happy pop in my musical diet. "Come On Over" was a lot of fun and it's been a long wait.

Did Mutt produce this album, too?

I'm looking forward to the album cover, and to whatever videos come out for it.
But the music, I couldn't give a flip about. [IMG]

Yeah, "Mutt" is producing this too, with his signature style (big drums, big choruses, big background vocals... in short, BIG sound [IMG]).
I haven't seen either of them live other than on TV, but I think Faith Hill is a mich better singer than Shania. I prefer Shania's music though, but the new Faith Hill single is such an 80's style power ballad I couldn't resist it. [IMG]

I would like to hear her new stuff also, My wife gave me Faiths new CD and I got to tell ya there is no country in it what so ever. But I was not impressed with the mastering, Just does not compare with Allison Kruss's instrumentals that I love so much!

I'm on song 18 (rock side), but I found only 3-4 songs that really grabbed me. Otherwise, the production drowned her voice (which sounds a bit on the nasally, scratchy side), and the other songs just blend in the background like muzak.

I have been a Shania fan since before she broke. While the new album is pretty much in the same vein as Come on Over, I like it. The single is an amalgamation of several of her previous songs, and there is the trademark Mutt background vocals (cloning his Def leppard work), but overall I haven't heard anthing I hate yet. With the second CD, this certainly is a bargain for a new release. Oh, and unless there is a major upset in her life, you can expect Mutt to produce everything she does.

I'm now listening to the other CD (Country), and prefer the country version for the 5 songs I've listened to.

Hmm...maybe I have the colors (of the CDs) mixed up:

    Red = rock?
    Green = country?

Hmmm... I haven't pick up "Up!" yet so I didn't know they threw both mixes in. That's kinda cool.

Has anyone listened to the International version of "Come On Over"? I'm just wondering if it's worth picking up since I do like the US release.

I will not be buying the able because I don't care for her music, but being an artist that doesn't like to do a lot of work in the studio, it seems to be up her alley.

She has like nearly 20 songs on the dang thing...that means that they will more than likely try to get at least a possible ten singles out of it to where she doesn't have to do studio work for about another two years or so.

She took around 5 years to put out "Up" since her last album "Come On Over".

I also like some of the "green" versions better, but I do think it's cool to have both available for what I paid for it, under $14CAN ($9US). There is nothing I dislike, and a number of songs are growing on me.

I'm still waiting for Sarah McLachlan to put out a new album since Fumbling (also from 1997), but she went and got preggers, so it'll be probably another year before we see a new album from her.

I can't really put my finger on why the country version sounds better to me, perhaps it's the production on the rock version just sounds too slick/soul-less or has less toe-tapping appeal.
