Not sure if its the german in me but I can't get enough of this stuff! I usually have it on rye bread but since I ran out I'm having it on crackers. Here's a list of the ingrediants: Pork, Pork Liver, water, salt & spices, Dextrose, glucose, honey, onion, sodium erythorbate and sodium nitrate.

I'm not a pork fan and certainly don't care for liver so what gives? Perhaps its the fat content that makes it so delicious, it says here 13.9 grams per 30 grams (2 TBSP).

Who needs a BigMac when you have something as good as this kicking around the refridgerator.

I haven't had it lately but when I was a kiddie, I used to have it all the time for lunch. Liverwurst + mustard + rye = yummy. My wife thinks it's nasty, yet her family likes pickled herring (!). Liverwurst lovers are few and far between.

We call it Braunschweiger (sp?) around this area. And yes, I agree that it's delicious. I like mine sliced from a log of Usinger's on a roll. Most people will throw a slice of onion on there too.
I also like liver patte' with some garlic breadsticks.
    O.K. now I'm hungry...

Count me in. Although I haven't had it in a while, I do enjoy it. I also like grilled liver and onions. Mmmmm.

I love liver in general... my wife hates it... so I don't see it too often. I usually have to go to my mother's house to get it.

I like Liverwurst but I haven't had it for over a year now though. There is a German Deli by my work and sometimes my dad and I will get a Liverwurst on Rye, but the Rye bread is what I am not to fond of. I would probably really like Liverwurst on crackers.

I didn't know there was that much fat in it.

I always ate this when I was a kid and haven't had it over 10 years.

When my family would visit my Dad's relatives on the farm in North Dakota my grandmother would always have Liverwurst ready for the picking. My grandmothers nickname was "Minge", so we nicknamed Liverwurst "Minge Butter". Don't ask me how that came about, but it stuck.

I'll have to pick some up on the next trip to the grocery store.

Love it, too. They make the stuff at some delis here in NYC and you can't get much better.

On rye with mustard, of course. And maybe a slice of red onion if I don't have to kiss anyone later.

...he took a turn for the wurst.

Thank you, thank you very much.

Liverwurst. Mustard. I prefer a country oat bread rather than rye. But its gotta be a big thick slice of a white sweet onion (Vidalia preferred).
    Mmmmmmmmm. Mmmmmmmmmm. That's good eatin'!
:b I gotta admit, I didn't know the fat content was that high, either! But, I guess that's just true about many things fun to eat!

Awesome stuff, try it with lettuce tomato and mayo on some very fresh wonderbread, a slice of bermuda onion adds a nice touch as well as long as your not gonna talk to anyone for a while.
As for Liver Pate', its the same damn thing only they use goose livers. Tastes identical to me.
And I also like liver and onions. I come from a strange family, parents were raised in South Philly (Philadelphia).

And I must say I enjoyed this thread much more then the guy talking about his ringworm. LOL

I love liver pate. Does it really taste the same as liverwurst?

    Hey Thi,
It just made me sick to my stomach but I didnt mean to offend you, theres some great medical sites on the web such as WebMD, and yes it does taste just like liver pate' though some gormet chef may argue with me. Hope you get the ringworm cleared up, it sounded really dangerous, especially the part where someone said you could have permanent hair loss as a result of it going to far.
    Take care of yourself.
