Never heard such a crappy soundtrack. Kind of sounds like a handkerchief is over the microphone. Sounds the same on the Pan N Scan side, too... [IMG]

Unfortunately MGM catalogue titles are typically given sub-par treatment on DVD.

Yeah, but geez, this is almost unlistenable. Just wondering if I got a bad pressing (although, I suppose it's unlikely that both sides would be affected).

One of my favorite Peter Sellers films.....

I agree with you, Randy. That's one of my favorite Elmer Bernstein scores too, and it sounded awful. I turned the volume up and made the best of it.

MGM usually does a very good job, but it would be a shame if out of all the fine titles they released this week (THE RUSSIANS ARE COMING, EXODUS, HOW TO MURDER YOUR WIFE, HENRY ORIENT) the best treatment was given to CASINO ROYALE, definitely the weakest movie in the bunch (but it's got that groovy Austin Powers marketability).

I've just watched this DVD which I first received in May 2005. My hearing has deteriorated in the past few years and tonight I had difficulty understanding all the dialog. I don't think that was entirely due to my hearing. I think the disc's audio quality is sub-standard. Next time I'll use the sub-titles.
