I've been cursed by this for two years. First, after I got my 1st DVD player(Aug '99) I had my car engine break down and I had to pay out the wazoo to fix it. Then, when I got my center channel speaker(June 2000) I had a large dental bill to pay. Finally I just purchased my widescreen TV and have had to pay $450 to replace the tires, change the transmission fluid, get a battery replaced. Now the alternator goes bad on the same darned car and I'm really ticked off. It takes me forever to get back to even after springing for new gear because crap comes up two to three weeks later that wasn't expected.
Good thing my HT is pretty much complete....

Anyone else have this problem???
PS: I also have to replace a wheel on my wife's car which could be upwards of $100...... ARGH!!!!!!

You would think these would be covered under warranty?
Well...they just don't make TV's like they used to.

Sometimes even just thinking about an upgrade can have costly effects. This past February, I went to an HT dealer to look at a pre/pro that I was seriously considering for my HT, and less than 10 minutes after pulling out of that store's parking lot, the front end my car was ripped off by another vehicle that ran a red light.
Fortunately, I was not seriously hurt. But even though the other guy's insurance supposedly covered all the damage, the aftermath of the incident still ended up costing me nearly a grand ($1,000). However, when I did end up buying the pre/pro a few months later, that is about how much I got off the list price, which had been quoted as the sales price on my first visit. So in the greater scheme of things, I came out about even, I guess. :>)

Well, my recent acquisition (sp?) of a DVD-A player highlighted my need for an Outlaw ICBM.... Does that count?

Isn't this the thing they were talking about in Fight Club? You know where your posessions start to own YOU. :)
