I was wondering if anyone has built a Maelstrom subwoofer yet?

I would love to see pics and read the details.

    Thanks

I would love to see the sub and hear more about it. I designed a Maelstrom well before they where released and had to postpone building it do to an uncertain economic outlook.

I am pretty excited about getting back on track with the project in February.

I looked at your HT equipment. We have a lot in common.

Here is some of my equipment that is similar to your setup

    Mits 60805 rear projection

    Paradigm Mini MKIII main speakers

    Paradigm CC-300 Center Speaker

    Definitive Technology PF1500 Subwoofer

    Panasonic DVD-A110

    Sony SLV585 VCR

    Monster Cable interconnects

Please post some pictures and details when you have completed your Maelstrom

    John,
I will be sure to take some pictures of my sub when completed. The only problem is that I really have nowhere to finish the sub right now since I cannot paint in my basement, have no garage, and there is a foot of snow on the ground outside. So needless to say it may have to be bare MDF until spring [IMG]
I should really update my equipment list as some things have changed:
I now run Adire Kit 281's for the front L&R and center
I now have an Outlaw Audio 1050 receiver
Obviously, I no longer have the DT PF1200 sub
    Its fun upgrading [IMG]

I have 2 Maelstroms sitting at home right now just screaming to be used. Dang these things are HUGE!

I plan on building 2 sealed units, about 5 cu feet net after all bracing and taking into account for all driver displacement and such packed with about 5lbs of batting. Should be Q of .6 or so.

Dan has heavily recommended this setup to me so off I go with it. With almost no power these things get LOUD.

Should be built within 2 weeks.

I'll update once completed... Can't wait to rattle the neighborhood...

I am not sure if you designed your sub yet, but I have posted my detailed design for download in a previous thread.
It is a sealed design and net after driver, bracing and amp is 5.18cu ft.
    You can find it here.
