These seem like good "honest" speakers--nothing spectacular but solidly engineered and priced well: only $150/pair. The looks? Well, kinda.....no nonsense.
And cone tweeters built by reputable companies can sound very good, but they just don't have a wide dispersion pattern.
Cambridge SoundWorks "Model Six" speakers
Wow, three pairs of these full-range speakers would only be $450--great for a nice, basic 6.0 DTS-ES/Dolby EX system. Just add a sub later. And great for playback of those multichannel music formats
.
But, do they sound good?
FYI: The original Model Six (early 70's?) is still highly regarded by many classic speaker lovers. Here's a picture of it: (scruffy!) KLH Model Sixes
